Woodstock 50 On-Sale Date Pushed Back, Rumors Suggest Festival is Having Problems

The line-up for this summer’s fiftieth anniversary edition of Woodstock was officially announced over a month ago. Tickets for the festival, which will feature Jay-Z, The Killers, Miley Cyrus, Santana, Chance the Rapper and more (Robert Plant, Greta Van Fleet and Fever 333 are the most metal-friendly acts) were set to go on sale this coming Monday, April 22nd, to coincide with Earth Day, but the on-sale has now been pushed back for an undisclosed reason with a new date yet to be announced.

Billboard reports that on Friday, Danny Wimmer Presents, the company booking Woodstock 50, sent an email to agents representing acts at the concert which read:

“There is currently a hold on the Woodstock 50 on-sale date. We are waiting on an official press statement from Woodstock 50 regarding updated announce, ticket pricing, and overall festival information. We will get this information to you as soon as we receive it.”

The Black Keys, initially slated to be one of the headliners, pulled out earlier this month citing a scheduling conflict. Rumors have been circulating that the festival might eventually be canceled, with one booking agent with an act scheduled to perform telling Billboard, “No one knows what the hell is going on but there is clearly a problem,” speculating that the organizers’ inability to get the event on sale could have to do with an issue with investors or “site complications” at the Watkins Glen International Speedway.

Those fearing a Fyre Festival-like fiasco should know that most acts have already received their deposits, according to Billboard. Festival creator Michael Lang told Billboard that rumors of the festival’s demise were just that: rumors. Still, we’re forced to wonder why the festival would wait so long to get tickets on sale after announcing the lineup. We’ll keep you posted.
