This is the bizarre true story of how some guy named Nathan bested Varg Vikernes in a Jeep race and ended up making $1,500 from some other guy with horrible taste in music.
What happened, according to Punknews.org (by way of Lambgoat), is this: Vikernes, being the total dipshit that he is, bet the aforementioned Nathan that his 1988 Jeep could go from 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) faster than whatever model of car Nathan drives (apparently he was trying to prove a point about cars built in socialist nations versus cars built in capitalist nations). When Varg lost, he a) claimed he never expected to win, y’know, like a child would do, and b) was forced to give Nathan his sole CD copy of Burzum’s painfully-overrated eponymous debut (Vikernes was given the CD by Euronymous, whose Deathlike Silence Records released the record; we can assume that Euronymous later regretted doing something so nice for Varg.) Varg also signed the CD, although at one point that happened, I dunno.
ANYWAY, Nathan, clever chap that he is, soon took to Discogs to sell this one-of-a-kind item, and then he sold it for a lot of money. Like, it was the nineteenth-highest selling item on Discogs in January.
So, clearly, Nathan is the big winner here: he got to humiliate a white supremacist twice (I call bullshit if Varg ever says he wouldn’t have loved that fifteen hundred bucks), and he got paid doing it. The guy is a friggin’ hero.
