Iron Maiden Eras
How many eras do you think the band had? How do you divide them?
Personally I divide the group's history in 3 eras which correspond to the 3 different singers and I also subdivide the Dickinson era into 4 subdivisions.
So it would be
Di'Anno Era- The beginnings with a punk influenced sound
Iron Maiden (1980) Killers (1981)
- Classic Heavy Metal Albums
The Number of the Beast (1982) Piece of Mind (1983) Powerslave (1984)
- Classic Heavy Metal with Progressive sound and use of synthesizers.
Somewhere in Time (1986) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988)
-Return to roots with a more Garage sound
No Prayer for the Dying (1990) Fear of the Dark (1992)
The X Factor (1995) Virtual XI (1998)
- Fourth Dickinson era with a definitive Progressive sound and long epic songs.
Brave New World (2000) Dance of Death (2003) A Matter of Life and Death (2006) The Final Frontier (2010) The Book of Souls (2015)
What do you think?
