UK math-heads The Arusha Accord haven’t put out any new music in nearly a decade, since 2009’s The Echo Verses. Now they’re coming out of hibernation in full swing with a new full length, Juracán!
Juracán reaches to every extreme and nods to everything in between — there’s erratic, technical thrashing, the gentle caress of lush synths, plenty of headbanging groove, and Lance Armstrong’s missing testicle. It leaves nothing to be desired, and it TOTALLY slaps (for real though: the bass throughout the album is the most slaptastic thing I’ve heard in my entire life). A couple of the tracks have riffs that stood out as particularly Tool inspired, while others sound more like something you’d hear from The Dillinger Escape Plan or even Architects.
Vocalist Paul Green explains:
“We decided to title the record Juracan due to the turbulent time we had with this record. I think chaos & disorder sums that phase up perfectly. Despite the knock backs we have had and there have been a whole bunch this past year, we’re the strongest we’ve ever been, more unified and passionate about this project and excited to finish the next three EPs!”
If you like weird shit, you’ll be able to appreciate this eccentric endeavor from The Arusha Accord. Juracán is out now, so check it out below and order right here.
