Van Der Neer artworkapproved small 2013Formed in 2015, York band Van Der Neer deliver their debut album entitled ‘Quicksilver’. Featuring veterans of the thriving local music scene, the band consist of singer/guitarist Simon Snaize, former Seahorses/Happy Mondays bassist Stuart Fletcher, drummer Dave Hartley and keyboard player Carl Hetherington, both formerly of York band Hijak Oscar. While local gig goers will be familiar with the faces and the tunes by now, it’s a cutthroat world out there, and Van Der Neer deal in the type of classic rock that can easily fall prey to being labelled generic or staid, so what can the band offer to avoid the usual comparisons? Our resident Yorkie digs in and finds out:
