I Went on Mike Hill from Tombs’ Podcast to Talk About Bigotry in the Black Metal Scene

MetalSucks has been at the center of a number of controversies in the black metal community (and beyond) over the past couple of years, to put it lightly. How do we decide which stories to cover? What is our investigative process for doing so? How did recent stories involving Watain, Taake, Inquisition and more come about? What do we think of groups like antifa?

These are just a few of the topics I talked about with Tombs mastermind Mike Hill, who invited me onto his Everything Went Black podcast for an in-depth chat last week. We also talk a bit about my background, the very early days of MetalSucks, how the site has changed over time, my personal history with black metal and more.

I’d like to extend a big thank you to Mike for having me on his show. An open, thoughtful discussion about these issues was long overdue and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity. You can stream the episode here or below.

You can support Everything Went Black on Patreon for as little as $1 per month. Thanks again, Mike!
