BLACK Stone Cherry drummer John Fred Young has revealed the band is often confused by American fans with Blackberry Smoke and Buckcherry.
“There’s so many stories of us in America being mistaken for other bands,” Young says on the White Line Fever podcast.
“Our buddies in Blackberry Smoke … it’s so funny to hear that people come to them and say ‘I love that song ‘White Trash (Millionaire)’.
“And people come to us and say ‘man, I love that song ‘Sanctified Woman’.”
While Black Stone Cherry are about to embark on a headlining arena tour in Europe, they are much less well-known in their homeland of the United States.
Young continues: “I remember in the early days, we used to get confused with Buckcherry.
“People would come up and say ‘I heard that song ‘Crazy Bitch’! At first we were, like, ‘we’re in a different band’ but after about three months we were, like, ‘thank you man’.
“There’s so many fruit bands out there. Someone’s got to come out with a (fruit) festival.”
Black Stone Cherry’s latest release is April 2018’s Family Tree.
