BeskarFormed by guitarist Frank Espen Larson, Norway’s Beskar are a studio-only progressive band with big ideas. Taking influences from all over metal’s broad history, the ‘Projection’ EP is a rich tapestry and in the course of its 32-minute run time, it’s possible to hear traces of just about any band you can think of. Repetitive stoner riffs from the Black Sabbath back catalogue? Spiralling psychedelic sequences from prog? Mosh-igniting Lamb Of God violence? It’s all in there, according to Tim Bolitho-Jones:
