Quireboys To Tour With Choirboys?

ENGLISH honky-tonk rockers the Quireboys want to bury the hatchet with their long-time Aussie irritants and tour as a confusing double-bill with the Choirboys.
In the 1980s, the English band had to change their name to London Quireboys in the United States to avoid confusion with the “Run To Paradise” crew from Sydney’s northern beaches.
But on the latest episode of the White Line Fever podcast, Quireboys guitarist Guy Griffin says it’s time to cash in on the coincidence with an Australian trek featuring both bands.
“It happens to a lot of bands, especially UK bands,” said Griffin. “When we got to America, the Choirboys with a ‘C’ had had a record out a few years before we came on the scene.
“Hence we were called the London Quireboys.
“Maybe we should do a double headline tour with the Choirboys! In Australia!”
Fellow guitarist Paul Guerin adds: “There’s been talk about it (an Australian tour) recently. Let’s hope something can come up.”
Keyboardist Keith Weir continued: “I think it will happen. You could go over to Japan at the same time. It’s a long time since the band’s been there. You’ve just got to make the figures work.”
The Quireboys, rounded out by singer Spike, released the album Twisted Love at the start of 2017.
