Avalanche Of Wetness

Hailing from the North Yorkshire Moors, five-piece Avalanche Party will return with their brazen new single ‘I’m So Wet’ on May 12th.

The follow-up to last year’s riveting ‘Solid Gold’ will be released just prior to a full UK/EU tour (dates below) that will run throughout May and June, taking in a date at London’s Camden Rocks on June 3rd. ‘I’m So Wet’ comes ahead of a full EP set for release later in the year.

Speaking about the single, frontman and guitarist Jordan Bell says: “Along with Leonard Cohen, Frank Sinatra & Etta James – we are highly decorated students of the University of Love, and so we bring to the world our ‘Suzanne’, our ‘Somethin’ Stupid’, our ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. Forged from a desire for a hot opening statement – a throbbing, pulsating, slinking, rhythmic tour de force. This is a song born from staring at the Irish Sea, in all its frothing, rolling, flirtatious glory, battered and broken by the gale and rock to which it is eternally bound. A tempting, trembling, perilous vista which, direct to our brain, shouted ‘Yes! …I’m So Wet’. Add to that a few verses inspired by our tour manager’s Army background and we were ready to go. With water comes life – and we are alive indeed.”

Avalanche Party’s sound and energy brings an intensity and immediacy reserved for only the most compelling of artists. Brimming with vigour, lyrics are spat through gritted teeth and notes are played through white knuckled fists – their raucous sound pendulums between the likes of The Stooges, Fat White Family and The Amazing Snakeheads. The reputation the band has earned in recent times has gained them main support slots with the likes of Public Enemy and VANT, praise from Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq and Vic Galloway alongside a 6 Music session and slots at the Leeds and Reading Weekend.

‘I’m So Wet’ will be the first of two singles set to be released via the Leeds-based independent label Clue Records as part of a new deal the band have just signed. The label – who have previously signed the likes of Allusondrugs, TRASH and Forever Cult – picked up Avalanche Partyfollowing the thunderous show they put on at Clue’s Christmas Party last year.
